From October 4-14, 2010 we are going to South Africa!

I (Barb) am invited to be a member of an Early Childhood Education Delegation in conjunction with People to People Citizen Ambassador Programs, and Cammy (my daughter, a student at Laura Jeffrey Academy in Saint Paul, Minnesota) is coming too.

We know it will be an unforgettable experience and through this blog we hope you’ll come along!

This delegation has been developed to foster-one-on-one dialogue with our overseas counterparts and to continue the tradition of professional diplomacy first set forth by President Eisenhower in 1956. On behalf of my agency, Resources for Child Caring, my goal is to deepen our understanding of the impact of political realities in the lives of children and families, and to consider the power of the early education profession to advance social change. I know I am looking forward to putting my own experiences in the U.S. into an international framework, and to learn more through the viewpoints of others.

Cammy is looking forward to the trip just as much.
